Transitions from high-preference to low-preference activities can be challenging. The authors intervened by putting a moderately preferred activity in between, which was effective in reducing challenges

Curiel, E.S.L., Anaple, A.L. Efficacy of Response Cards in College Classrooms: A Systematic Literature Review. Behav Analysis Practice (2025). https://doi.org/10.1007/s40617-025-01084-7
Response cards are...cards that students can raise to participate or answer questions (e.g., a card with "yes" and "no" or green and red on either side). There is limited evidence in college classrooms, but they result in minor increases in quiz scores, plus are superior to hand-raising and control in about 2/3 of studies

(Open access) An indirect assessment composed of learner preferences and environment (a helpful flowchart is in the methods section) resulted in differential preferences for 6 learners. They appeared to prefer the selected modality, and learned the initial mands

DiSanti, B. M., Eikeseth, S., & Eldevik, S. (2025). Comparing Modified Structured Mix and Modified Counterbalanced Random Rotation procedures to teach auditory-visual conditional discriminations to neurotypical individuals. European Journal of Behavior Analysis, 1–18. https://doi.org/10.1080/15021149.2025.2537990
(Open access) 5 neurotypical subjects were taught a listener response to arbitrary stimuli. One condition was modified structured mix (mass trials, intermixing, random rotation), and the second condition was modified counterbalanced random rotation (random rotation only). Both worked, but random rotation was more efficient and had better maintenance

Nebraska and Indiana cut rates. Now Centene want to cut rates and limit hours, which you can see in this potentially AI-generated slop sentence:

In exactly the way we have summarized contingency management:

The approach has been around for decades, but most clinics were uneasy about adopting it because of its bluntly transactional nature.

The problem is that it works better than anything else, so critics are stuck arguing against it from a philosophical position while ignoring outcomes. Still, many people are starting to –

Many believe that Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the health secretary, who overcame his heroin addiction with a 12-step program and has praised approaches that threaten to jail people who refuse treatment, would be unlikely to endorse a financial rewards-based strategy.
