Behavior Analysis in Practice
3/17 Jessel, J., Beaulieu, L. & Rajaraman, A. How to Conduct More Culturally Responsive and Trauma-Informed Functional Assessment Interviews: A Tutorial. Behav Analysis Practice (2025). https://doi.org/10.1007/s40617-025-01047-y
The authors share tips on conducting an open-ended intake interview, and their form is available for free here. It appears to be a good option, covering the bases from (for example) the FAIF

3/19 Machado, M.A., Elmore, C. & Hall, L. A Preliminary Evaluation of Dyslexie’s Influence on Adult Dyslexic Reading Performance. Behav Analysis Practice (2025). https://doi.org/10.1007/s40617-025-01048-x
Dyslexie is a font that claims to be more readable by those with dyslexia. The authors find this not to be true, though people voice preferences for fonts. The authors recommend actual evidence-based practices, such as phonological awareness training -- which is just associating letters with sounds

3/21 de la Cruz, B., Bourland, G. Introduction to the Special Issue on Public Policy Advocacy in Behavior Analysis: Chronicles from Behavior Analysts to Guide Future Public Policy Advocacy Action. Behav Analysis Practice (2025). https://doi.org/10.1007/s40617-025-01049-w
(Open access) Detailing the need for involvement in public policy

Behavioral Interventions *
3/16 Romo, C., Lechago, S.A., Martin, A., Santiago Rodrigues, J.L. and Carrera, J. (2025), The Effects of English and Spanish Instructional Sequences on the Acquisition of Conditional Discriminations. Behavioral Interventions, 40: e70005. https://doi.org/10.1002/bin.70005
For three bilingual children, the authors taught tacts in 3 conditions: mixed, English then Spanish, and Spanish then English. Mixed was most efficient for 1/3, with the other 2 more efficient in Spanish then English; language preference was not correlated with learning

3/19 Lotfizadeh, A.D., McCoy, E. and Rico, C. (2025), A Comparison of Electronic and Pen-And-Paper Recording in ABA Sessions. Behavioral Interventions, 40: e70013. https://doi.org/10.1002/bin.70013
The authors found essentially no difference, but staff tended to prefer electronic recording.

Park, S., Ward, P. and Goodway, J. (2025), The Effects of Developmentally Aligned Kicking Instruction for Young Children With Autism Spectrum Disorder. Behavioral Interventions, 40: e70012. https://doi.org/10.1002/bin.70012
5 kids with ASD got developmentally-aligned kicking instruction and all improved their kicking skills

Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior *
3/18 Kaplan, B. A., & Reed, D. D. (2025). shinybeez: A Shiny app for behavioral economic easy demand and discounting. Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior, 1–22. https://doi.org/10.1002/jeab.70000
A free, online/offline app for studying delay discounting data

Education and Treatment of Children
3/18 Wills, H., Kamps, D. & Greenwood, C.R. Peer Tutoring and Teams Interventions for School-Aged Students: CWPT and CW-FIT. Educ. Treat. Child. (2025). https://doi.org/10.1007/s43494-025-00151-6
The Juniper Gardens preschool, associated with University of Kansas, detail two interventions used in their preschool: ClassWide Peer Tutoring, and ClassWide Function-related Intervention Team. Peer tutoring is where kids get a chance to teach each other using the classroom curriculum, and CW-FIT appears to be a package intervention similar to what you might see in PBIS

Journal of Behavioral Education
3/16 Whiting, S.W., Speelman, R.C. Increasing Optional Class Session Attendance in an Online Course with a Brief, Low-Effort Choice Intervention. J Behav Educ (2025). https://doi.org/10.1007/s10864-025-09585-9
(Open access) In an online grad course, the professor offered an additional options class-as-usual or the option to vote for topics for the TA to address in an optional class. Attendance in the choice condition increased by 12% (though the attendance in the class-as-usual condition was absurdly low)

How one health system looks to get ahead of Medicaid, ACA cuts
It’s not all doom and gloom, figuring out how to navigate the cuts that loom like the sword of Damocles. This health system, if you read between the lines of what the CEO says, wants to shunt people away from the emergency room (too expensive) into other types of primary care (cheaper). So, they claim they will increase usage of primary care! Here’s how:

Trump says Education Department will no longer oversee student loans, 'special needs'

After announcing these potential changes to the federal student loan portfolio, Trump then said, "Bobby Kennedy, the Health and Human Services [secretary], will be handling special needs," referring to cabinet member Robert F. Kennedy.

As usual, otherwise smart people are contorting themselves into Gordian knots “interpreting” what this “means,” insofar as it seriously impacts people’s “lives.” Parasite-brain guy “will be handling special needs” inspires hundreds to write credulous sentences like,

This appears to be a reference to the federal law known as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), which the Education Department administers.

But on the bright side,
