Behavior Modification *
12/26 Carpenter, M. E., Brown, C. J., Hirsch, S. E., & Griffith, C. A. (2025). Who Is on the BIP Development Team for Students with IDD? A Case Study of One School District. Behavior Modification, 0(0). https://doi.org/10.1177/01454455251397904
In a review of 87 BIPs in a large school district, less than 5% included the student in planning

Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior *
12/23 Jackson, K. R. F., & Kestner, K. M. (2026). Reducing renewal with context fading during differential reinforcement procedures. Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior, 125(1), e70078. https://doi.org/10.1002/jeab.70078
In an analog task, target behaviors were reinforced in context A and alternatives were reinforced in context B. For some participants, background color faded between contexts. When shifting from A to B and back to A, renewal occurred for almost 95% of participants without color shift, and only 50% with fading

12/26 Lambert, J. M., Osina, M. A., Staubitz, J. L., Reed, D. D., & Madden, G. J. (2026). Evaluating contributions of progressive ratio analysis to economic metrics of demand. Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior, 125(1), e70077. https://doi.org/10.1002/jeab.70077
(Open access) 96 people with disabilities were enrolled in a translational study where they rolled dice to get a reinforcer, and the number of rolls was progressively increased until the subjects gave up. Actual results did not match predictions. Also, when moving from NCR to FR1, nearly half of subjects increased consumption, which could imply that people prefer contingencies

Journal of Behavioral Education
12/22 Dowdy, A., Kang, H.K., Karwa, V. et al. Sequential Dynamic Bayesian Modeling for Single-Case Experimental Designs: A Novel Approach to Many Labs Research. J Behav Educ (2025). https://doi.org/10.1007/s10864-025-09610-x
(Open access) The authors argue that single-case designs can be coordinated across labs, increasing external validity

12/24 Longano, J., Lee, G. & Cahill, C. Look, Listen, and Learn: The Effects of Synchronous Reinforcement on Observing Responses for Adult Faces and Peers. J Behav Educ (2025). https://doi.org/10.1007/s10864-025-09612-9
In 3 subjects, synchronous reinforcement for attending to adult and peer faces (ex: playing preferred music while looking towards faces, stopping the music when they look away) increased looking. This intervention also improved learning outcomes (fewer trials to mastery), and increased social responsivity with peers

ABA Volume Skyrocketed by 267% from 2019 to 2024
This is a report on a somewhat muddled document; for example, they suggest that supply of treatment has caused the demand, and yet they note that volume growth exceeded practitioner capacity. Nevertheless, the report includes the nuanced takeaway that ABA is expensive

Rats Get Even Better At Playing DOOM, Hackaday
A researcher trained rats to “play” DOOM, the 1993 PC shooter. The rat received reinforcement for clicking, which would shoot in-game demons.Well, as is being reported in some outlets, he redesigned the rig so that the rats have a small wraparound screen in front, and an omnidirectional treadmill underneath. Check out his site here.
