Behavior Analysis in Practice
9/15 Mattson, S.L., Spinks, H.M. Practical Resources for Embedding Opportunities to Practice Dissemination-Related Skills Into Coursework and Supervision Experiences. Behav Analysis Practice (2025). https://doi.org/10.1007/s40617-025-01090-9
The authors describe activities and provide resources to improve dissemination skills
9/18 Pizzella, D., Light-Shriner, C. Defining Collaborative Practices in Behavior Analysis. Behav Analysis Practice (2025). https://doi.org/10.1007/s40617-025-01089-2
In 253 survey results from behavior analysts, the authors find 4 themes important to collaboration: "(1) valuing the expertise of all team members, including families; (2) focusing on student-centered activities aligned with goals; (3) communicating respectfully and working together; and (4) making data-based decisions."
Perspectives on Behavior Science
9/15 Wasserman, E.A. Decoupling Design from Darwinian and Skinnerian Selection. Perspect Behav Sci (2025). https://doi.org/10.1007/s40614-025-00476-y
(Open access) The author argues that the word "selection" in Darwin's writing can lead people to think of nature as a conscious selector -- a designer -- with aforethought. This carries forward into Skinner's selection, and is perhaps a reason for continuing mentalism in both fields
9/19 Kangas, B.D. Reverse Translation. Perspect Behav Sci (2025). https://doi.org/10.1007/s40614-025-00478-w
Most translational studies use an animal model of a behavior, then tested for predictive power on humans. Reverse translation takes human patterns of behavior and compares it to animal models, which can aid in pharmacological discovery
Behavior and Social Issues

Journal of Positive Behavior Interventions * Volume 27 Issue 4 (7 articles, 1 open access)
Most intriguing: Are There Generalization Effects to the Home Context From the School-Wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS) Model?
(Open access) In Norway, a random selection of 4th graders, some of whom were at-risk, were followed with parent surveys for 4 years. School-wide PBIS interventions had no apparent effect on the children or the parents. Could PBIS be missing a generalization component?
The Analysis of Verbal Behavior
9/15 Ferrari, C., Lewon, M. Context and Meaning in Acts of Translation and Interpretation. Analysis Verbal Behav (2025). https://doi.org/10.1007/s40616-025-00223-z

Reinforcement Created Humans. It Could End Us Too.
1) People selling "AI" have a vested interest in making it sound dangerous -- because that makes it sound important and effective. Note how CEOs of "AI" companies will talk about how there's a good chance that their tech will destroy the Earth. It's got what plants crave!. 2) "AI" seems pretty incredible until you realize that it has likely been trained on hundreds of thousands of pirated books and enormous swaths of the internet, using absurd amounts of electricity and water, all to do work that is inferior to human experts. Does this last point matter; that is, do you buy artisan handmade socks, or the cheapest 18-pack made in a sweatshop? The food is terrible, but such large portions! 3) This article looks at several possibilities for AI, not all bad

A Cascade of Bad News, from Modern Healthcare (this week alone!):
Yet rural patients are actually less likely to use telehealth
Emergency rooms and nursing homes are too crowded
And continuing our posting spree about funding source problems:
A managed care organization in Georgia may be deliberately delaying payments
Someone, somewhere has to be able to make a living off of healthcare.
Accidentally behavior analysis
A mainstream news article that relates to behavior analysis
Inside a ‘Hell on Earth’ in Oklahoma, NYT
This is a sad story about systematic abuse in a supported-living facility, with some mild descriptions of said abuse. This is not a behavior analysis story per se. However it calls back to our piece on Bailey & Burch’s story about forming an ethics code. Our point: “bad actors” are not the problem – bad systems are.
